Beauty they say is in the eyes of the beholder. However, our standard of “beautiful” defer and it is very subjective. The modern modelling world, fortunately, is on the path of understanding that a glowing face, skinny body and “Mary Kay” smile aren’t standards for measuring beauty.

Trend change has a significant influence on “ordinary girls” by encouraging them to accept who they really are and appreciate how they look.

Luckily for us, some models are already setting records on and off the runway,-despite their flaws. This article is a collection of some of them;

The teenager who is from Northern Ireland was selected as the best in the “teenager category.” Kate has always been interested in fashion since she was 13, and she’s had the support of her parents despite her condition.

They’ve even gone as far as arranging interviews with some modelling agencies but got turned down each time. Now Kate Grant has finally gotten her wish, and she’s doing a great job.

Little April was just six years old when she was diagnosed with vitiligo. This news wrecked her self esteem in the worst way. Amazingly, her parents were always there to support and encourage her.

They were there to push and make sure she made a career out of what she believed in, and that push led her to get an invitation for a show in the United States, “The Real”, and there she met Winnie Harlow who later became her role model.

Now, April is taking part in several photo shoots for very popular magazines, and her Instagram page is something you need to look forward to.

She gained recognition when a model showed Talisha White a post made by Marian on Instagram. Talisha got in touch with Marian, and the rest is history. Miss Avila currently works with Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue.

6. Tess McMillan

Tess studied for two years at an acting school with the hope of being an actress someday. But the Texan got a shot at modelling after a photoshoot with “models.com”, that was it.

She has had works with brands like JCPenney and Zalando. She also had a photo shoot with British Vogue and was part of Marc Jacobs’ advertising campaign.
