While celebrity marriages are on the increase and engagements are on the rise among celebrities, some other celebrities vow never to walk down the aisle. Although they have their reasons which are actually tangible enough for them, well we won’t really get to see their wedding bells ringing, no not ever.
Apparently for these ones, love works but not just down the aisle. They simply prefer to just “get in and get out” of relationships however they please without having to ever say their vows. Some are our favourite actors and actresses and they are simply saying, we should never expect to hear them say they are getting married. They include:
1. Oprah Winfrey:
Our dear Oprah has vowed never to walk down the aisle. Even though she has been with her boyfriend Stedman Graham since like 1986 (are you surprised?) and they even got engaged something in 1992, the duo have no intentions whatsoever to say their vows or even walk down the aisle.
Oprah said in an interview way back in 2003 with essence Magazine that if she and Stedman had walked down that aisle, they would have gotten a divorce and may not even be talking to each other let alone be together. She said that their relationship is by no means the normal traditional relationship.
In 2013, she also reaffirmed her words and said that she intended to die and leave the earth with the title “Miss” and not “Mrs”. This means that she intends to stay unmarried as long as she lives… Surprising wouldn’t you say?
2. Halle Berry:
Beautiful and stunning Halle has also vowed never to say the words “I do” again. This was a vow she made after her divorce in 2005 from the singer Eric Benét. Before she married Eric, she had also married the baseball player David Justice. In her words to Instyle in 2007, she said “I will never never get married again”.
However, love found her and she was willing to break her vow. This she did when she got married to Olivier Martinez in 2013 but the duo couldn’t last beyond 3years and they had eventually split in 2016.
Now, Halle says she is no longer breaking her vow anymore. Her perspective about marriage had had a massive spin after undergoing three divorces. In her words, she said ” As women, we go into marriage thinking that we have met our Prince charming on a shinning horse and its going to be together forever. This was what I learnt as a kid from fairy tales. Now, fairy tales are all lies and I am anti-fairy tales from now on”
3. Sandra Bullock:
10 years after a devastating divorce episode which was a very public one, Sandra says she is not in a rush to get married. Although she still has the thoughts of getting into relationships, she says that she can see herself in a totally committed relationship but marriage is a no go area for her right now.
The Oscar winner who is apparently in a hot sizzling romantic relationship with photographer Bryan Randall since, she has debunked any news of marriage. Her publicity rep says that although they are in love with each other, that is just about it. Though they are soul mates but the church is not yet in their view for now.
4. Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn:
This is one of the most beloved couples of all time in Hollywood. Their love has been like forever but they don’t see the need to walk down the aisle. They have practically spent 30 years together but they have decided not to put a ring on it. For them, their question isn’t why shouldn’t they get married? Instead their question is why must they get married?
According to Goldie, she said they love each other and respect each other, even have normal couple fights that is expected from couples but they have never seen the need to say their vows. She said they pretty ugh know where they stand with each other and so saying their vows isn’t necessary.
Goldie herself had been married twice and she says that there is something psychological about not being married. She says not being married gave her independence and freedom to make decisions and choices the way she wants to. She said that both a her and Kurt chose to stay and they are both happy with the choices they have made.
5. Charlize Theron:
7 years ago, the Tully star had openly acknowledged her unwillingness and lack of desire to get married. Having being a product of a rocky marriage and having seen what her parents went through, she had decided that she was going to stay unmarried till she dies.
She told Piers Morgan that marriage has never been the first thing to cross her mind and it is not even on her to-do list. After giving birth to two kids, she says all she wants is a long term relationship and that the whole ceremony of marriage makes no meaning to her.
6. Susan Saradon:
Ever since her divorce with her husband Chris Saradon, Susan has vowed never to get married. She had apparently dated actor Tim Robbins for more than 20years and had even had kids with him without them ever saying their vows to each other. Even after the couple broke up, she said she had always liked the idea of choosing to be with someone because you want to and not because you are mandated to.
She said that she has always thought that if you aren’t married to someone, then the person won’t be able to take you for granted and even after not being married for quite a long time now, she still feels the same way.
7. Kylie Minogue:
Having recently called off her engagement to Joshua Sasse, Kylie told Red magazine that she has no intentions whatsoever in getting married. She said that the engagement was simply only an experiment on her path and that she had never ever thought of getting married. She said that she doesn’t think marriage is for her and she never even had the dream even when she was little.
Although she found love again with Paul Solomons, she is still unsure if she would get married although she had already begun to think twice about her statement. In her words, she said “I did say that maybe marriage wasn’t for me, but the other half is maybe. I don’t know”
