Legendary actor Burt Reynolds has left the earth and created a hole in the hearts of every Hollywood star who came in contact with him. The actor died in the early hours of Tuesday the sixth of September 2018 after having a cardiac arrest.
In a statement to E! News, the late actor’s Niece said “It is with a broken heart that I said goodbye to my uncle today. My uncle was not just a movie icon; he was a generous, passionate and sensitive man who was dedicated to his family, friends, fans and acting students. He has had health issues. However, this was totally unexpected. He was tough. Anyone who breaks their tailbone on a river and finishes the movie is tough. And that’s who he was.”
The demise of the actor is a painful one for many Hollywood star, and they took to social media to express their condolences and talk about some of the memories they shared with him.
Smoky and the Bandit co-star Sally Field told E! in a statement that “There are times in your life that are so indelible, they never fade away. They stay alive, even forty years later. My years with Burt never leave my mind. He will be in my history and my heart, for as long as I live. Rest, Buddy.”
Burt had been active with work before he died and was supposed to co-star with Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt in a new movie titled Once upon a time in Hollywood.
“My uncle was looking forward to working with Quentin Tarantino and the amazing cast that was assembled,” The actor’s family said in their statement. “I want to thank all of his amazing fans who have always supported and cheered him on, through all of the hills and valleys of his life and career. My family and I appreciate the outpouring of love for my uncle, and I ask that everyone, please respect our family’s privacy at this tough time.”
Paul Wesley wrote on his twitter ” Burt Reynolds was one of the kindest and most generous people I have ever worked with. He took me under his wing when I was first starting out as an actor and offered friendship, advice and guidance. I’ll never forget how much that meant to me.”
Wesley Snipes also wrote on Twitter “I will never forget our dinners, laughs & gems you dropped. Meeting you was one of the greater joys of my adult life & artistic career. You were the “Man” then, now & forever in my book. 10-4 Bandit, you’ve got nothing but open road now – love, WS. The Student.”
Richard Marks also Tweeted that “I met Burt Reynolds once in a video store in the 90s before he did “Boogie Nights.” He was by himself, and no one seemed to notice him. I said, “I just want to thank you for many hours of entertainment.” He smiled so big and shook my hand and said, “You made my day. Thank you.”
Fans around the world will miss burt Raynold for his contributions in the entertainment industry.
Plans for the actor’s funeral is yet to be announced by his family.
