One of the major trending topics for this year has been the emergence of 5G for public consumers, the network with speed that can send 4G to the time of the Pharaohs.
But to enjoy this new network coming out, one has to which devices are enabled to receive 5G signal and upgrade appropriately.
Apple devices are sure to this list as the iPhone will wait till 2020 to join this group of smart devices.
With the introduction of the 5G enabled Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, more Android devices will soon join this list.
Here are the phones capable of supporting 5G presently.
Motorola Moto Z3
This is presently the only device that has been tested and confirmed to support 5G networks. The Moto Z series usually support Mods, and the only way to get your Moto Z3 to connect to 5G is to use a 5G Mod.
Well, a 5G Mod might be cheaper than getting a new smartphone altogether, but Motorola/Lenovo has not released the 5G Mod for consumers. Disappointing.
Samsung Galaxy S10+, Note 10
Samsung is expected to release the 10th Generation of its Galaxy S phones this year, and one of its selling points will likely be the 5G functionality.
The Galaxy S10 is rumoured to come in three variants; S10 lite, S10 and S10+. Since Samsung usually uses Qualcomm chips on some of its Galaxy variants, there is no doubt it will be the Snapdragon 855 chipset (or a newer version)
This may limit these devices to US, UK and South Korea only but well, we await them.
Also, if the S10+ is coming with 5G, then the Note 10 that will be released later after the Galaxy S10+ is sure to come with 5G support too.
OnePlus 5G Phones
If there is one company that listens to what its fans have to say, it has to be OnePlus. A separate 5G device with 10GB of RAM space is rumoured to be on its way as OnePlus may have started working on with Snapdragon 855 chipset.
The thing is, the device is not expected to be the OnePlus 7 or 7T as the company may be trying to avoid messing up its flagship line. Whatever it is, we wait on OnePlus to do the math.
Oppo 5G Device
Oppo is a company that isn’t afraid to test new grounds as it was one the companies that brought the Pop-Up functionality last year.
Since they have successfully tested 5G network on their modified Oppo R15 flagship device, the Chinese manufacturer is expected to release a 5Genabled flagship this year.
While we may not know which of its flagship, we sure know they have finalised a deal with Qualcomm regarding the usage of their components in their devices this year.
Expect a Snapdragon 855 powered device from Oppo this year.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G
Xiaomi confirmed that the Mi Mix 3 will have a 5G variant last year and claimed the device would also be released in the first quarter of this year.
The Mi Mix 3 with magnetic pop-up sliders for the cameras was one of the best Xioami devices released last year. The 5G variant will undoubtedly be an improvement over the Mi Mix 3.
Huawei P30, Mate 30
While Huawei may have confirmed working on a 5G enabled foldable device, many consumers may want to wait for the P30 or Mate 30. This is because the foldable devices may cost arms and legs.
The Huawei P20 and Mate 20 successors are likely to be named P30 and Mate 30 and are expected to be 5G enabled. Huawei prides itself with the ability to release extraordinary devices and what can be more remarkable than a 5G enabled P30 or Mate 30?
Huawei is also expected to release a 5G enabled Honor device. Let the race begin.
