Marvel’s Black Panther has won the most outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture at the Screen Actors Guild Awards which took place on Sunday night.
Black Panther came up against A Star Is Born, BlacKKKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody and Crazy Rich Asians for the coveted award.
Accepting the honour on behalf of the cast was Chadwick Boseman.
“We all know what it’s like to be told there’s not a screen for you to be featured on, there’s not a stage for you to be featured on,” Boseman said. “We know what it’s like to be the tail and not the head. We know what it’s like to be beneath and not above.”
“And that is what we went to work with every day because we knew, not that we would be around during awards season and that it would make a billion dollars, but we knew we had something special that we wanted to give the world.”
Boseman added, “We knew we could create a world that exemplified a world that we knew we wanted to see. We knew we had something that we wanted to give.”

Black Panther is seen as a major breakthrough for the black community. Tyra Banks last year said “It’s not a movie, it’s a movement. It’s a living organism. This is the self-esteem and the boost that my community not just needs right now but deserves.”
Black Panther has also been nominated for best picture at the 91st Academy Awards.
The SAG Award is always seen as a prediction of what is to come in the Oscars as many SAG voters are also Academy members and Academy members dominate the Oscars votes.
Seems like Black Panther will win at the Oscars.
