Medical experts in New York are battling to determine the cause of death of Colin Kroll. Prior to his sudden demise, he was the co-founder of HQ Trivia game and short-video platform Vine in 2012 before the company was acquired by Twitter. The 35 year old was found dead by police in his New York city apartment over the weekend. The most likely cause of death is suspected to be drug overdose. The horrible discovery was made after his girlfriend called the police. She asked them to check on him after multiple attempts to reach him failed.
Reports say that authorities found what it described as “drug paraphernalia nearby”. This discovery is what led them to believe that he overdosed and died as a result. However, his company HQ has expressed grief in a short statement. It says, “We learned today of the passing of our friend and founder, Colin Kroll, and it’s with deep sadness that we say goodbye. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Colin Kroll used to work for Twitter as the its CTO and General Manager of Vine before he was sacked in 2014. The main reason he was sacked by Twitter was his bad behavior towards women. After his sack, he and his former colleague, Dom Hofmann who also left Twitter started HQ Trivia which became a huge success. However, the new company struggled for money as investors found out his behavior at Twitter and fled. There’s no information on who will take over his job as CEO of HQ.
