Facebook’s Messenger Lite has gotten richer as more feature has been added to it, such as animated GIFs and customisation feature that was available in the full-sized Messenger app.
“While you were able to receive GIFs in Messenger Lite for some time now, they are not animated. But starting from now, people will be able to express themselves more in chats with family and friends by using animated GIFs.”
“To send a GIF, you can use a third-party keyboard (such as the Google keyboard), then search for GIFs in their library so that you can send a more expressive message,” Krish Gali, Product Manager, Facebook, wrote in a blog post late Wednesday.
Users can also customise their conversations with different people and groups and make various choices of colour and emoji’s to make the chat more personal.
With the new updates, the Lite version of Facebook’s Messenger app has become a feature-rich service, but the size remains under 10MB. The lightweight messaging app is very much available in over 100 countries, and it got a video chat feature earlier this year.
The app earlier had Messenger’s core experiences such as sending and receiving photos, messaging, links and receiving stickers. It’s making use of Messenger bolt logo but with its colours reversed. The bolt is blue with a white chat bubble background.
