At a time, it seemed like the idea of Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton getting married immediately was inevitable.
The pair made conscious efforts to keep their affair away from the public eye during the first few months. Gwen even said “I never said anything about being in a new relationship,” during a radio interview in November 2015 only a few days after Blake’s rep revealed the pair were dating. Soon after the sweet escape singer was mock complaining of her partner saying “Why’d you have to go and make me like you?”
By the time of the interview, Stefani was already pooping in at Blake’s ranch in Oklahoma, and he was also showing up once in a while on her IG feeds. After dealing with simultaneous divorces, the lovebirds couldn’t stop talking about how thankful they are to have another free shot from cupid.
In mid-2016, around the period Blake proclaimed to the billboard that Stefani saved his life following his separation from his ex-wife Miranda Lambert, rumour had it that the pair had wedding plans so much so that one insider shared with the US Today that “They want to get married before the end of the year.”
This is 2018, two years after all that speculation and the couple are still moving around with their ring fingers bare. From all indications, fans are more concerned about Gwen and Blake getting the knot tied than the lady in the relationship is.
Stefani who clocked 49 yesterday appears to be very happy to have her boyfriend by her side even though an engagement is yet to come. That doesn’t neglect the fact that Gwen and Blake think about becoming man and wife every day. Stephanie admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that she thinks about being wife to the 42-year old the time all the time, and Blake shares the same thoughts as he said something similar during an interview with Cody Allen.
However, the duo does not feel pressured to move their relationship up to the love ladder and change the title just because it’s what their fans and everyone else want. “I do not think it is anytime soon or anything,” Blake noted to Cody. “The more time that passes by, I guess, the closer you would be getting to that.”
It’s been three years since their first selfie and “You’re my favourite” singer with her country boyfriend do not see any valid reason to join the “about to be married” Hollywood gang.
A source explained to ET that “There is no reason for them to rush into marriage, so they aren’t. Both of them are happy and content with where their relationship is right now.”
Not like Gwen and her boyfriend are too scared to join the list of celebs getting paired up officially, they are just a little more careful about making the big decision. Gwen dated her ex-husband for seven years before eventually walking down the aisle, and Blake also dated his ex-wife for six years before popping the question.
Moreover, if they admitted being afraid of marriage, it wouldn’t be a thing of a surprise because their last unions didn’t have happy endings.
The mother of three confirmed that in an interview with the cosmopolitan magazine that the man she was married to for 13years cheated on her.”Nobody would believe it if I could really say what happened. I went through months and months of torture.” Stefani hinted that Shelton’s separation was equally devastating, as she discloses to the New York Times that he “had been going through literally the same thing in literally the same time frame.”
Despite how they make a perfect misery love pair, their initial getting together was met with a lot of eyeball rollings from close people and fans alike. “When we first started seeing each other, friends of mine would be like, ‘What the hell is that all about?'” the 49 years old owner of Old Red Nashville told people magazine of how they tried to cope with the difference in their lifestyles.”But if you ever had a chance to be around us together, it does make sense.”
It is also sweet to know that they got together not only because they were partners in heartbreak as they grew from always “Checking in on each other once a week through email—’This s–t happened to me, what happened to you?'” Blake told Billboard, to texting pals “Next thing I know, I wake up and she’s all I care about, and I’m wondering if she feels the same about me.”
An insider told E! News that “Some people don ‘t think they have a lot in common, but they do.”
Gwen has always looked happy since she got together with Shelton and started living at his waterside ranch in Oklahoma. “We love to go out on the lake,” Blake told People magazine. “My family, Gwen and her family, we all get together and go out and float around. The kids swim and tube and all that stuff. We have a blast.”
Aside getting along fine, the pair just works perfectly well.
“I think if Gwen and I were being honest right now, talking about this, I think in the back of our mind, that we both kind of thought, this is a rebound deal because we’re both coming out of a low spot in our lives and we’re kind of clinging to each other to get through this. “But now, here we are, going on three years later and every day that goes by, it just feels like a stronger bond between the two of us, and it constantly feels like it’s going to the next level. That’s the only way I think either one of us would probably describe it,” Blake admitted to Willie Geist in June.
Gwen told Good Morning America that the five-time Country Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year isn’t just the love of her life but “He’s my homeboy, my homey and he is just really an amazing all-around human, so I feel so grateful for that.”
Blake has also been playing unofficial stepfather to Gwen’s kids, and he had been really good at it. According to a close friend of the couple, “Blake has always wanted children, and he’s great with Gwen’s kids, which prompted them wanting their own.”
However, before Gwen, he had given up on his dreams of being a dad. “I kind of had put having kids as like, ‘Well, that wasn’t meant to be, then all of a sudden it happens—one way or another—and it’s like, ‘Wow, I really missed out on a lot.’
“There’s days where you go, ‘Oh my God, when does school start?'” Blake admitted to People Mag. “An hour later you’re going, ‘God, I can’t wait ’til they get home.'” Despite the obvious parenting struggles, Stefani’s Sons are “so damn funny, It’s just my first time being around it, and it’s easy to fall in love with those kids. They’re pretty special.”
Married or not, the couple is happy are wouldn’t give that away for anything. Shelton said in June during an interview with People that”I wouldn’t change one thing about my life right now. I’m happy. Sometimes happiness can seem like fleeting moments, but this one has been staying in the same lane for a long time. It’s just amazing.”
So now, Blake has given up on questioning things and focused on living the moment “I would like to ride this wave till I die. The personal side of my life has been chaotic at times over the last few years, but it’s kinda settled down now and just feels good.”
Happy Birthday, Gwen Stefani!
