Need some hair inspiration? Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, popularly called Halsey is there to inspire you on the go. Asides her beautiful music, Halsey is known for her taste when it comes to hairstyles and eye-popping hair colours.
From turquoise, hot pink, bright blond to red, the singer looks good on almost every hair colour she chooses to wear. But like the saying goes “I am not my hair”, Halsey has made it clear that there is more to her than her head turning hairstyles. She went as far as shaving off all her hair to prove the point that she wanted to be defined by more than just her hair.
If you have seen her recently, you must have noticed a change in her look. The ” Bad at love” singer is all about embracing her natural hair, and she is unapologetic about it. On the 10th of August 2018, Halsey tweeted a selfie and captioned it “New growth, new growth; all these fades I outgrew”.
Halsey’s Fans were happy about her new hair and responded warmly to her tweet by tweeting back. One of her fans tweeted ” LIVING for your natural hair.” and Halsey was so happy to reply to the fan as she said “worked v hard” to grow out her full looking curls.
The tweets didn’t end there, Halsey felt the need to talk about how people’s opinion affected her. The singer wrote in a tweet that she spent the last one year growing her natural curls under the wigs she wore only for her to expose her real hair and some people had the guts to say that her natural hair looked like a wig. The singer was pissed, and she wasn’t planning to hold back her anger as she wrote: “Some f*cked up sh*t lmao.” as the last part of the tweet.
I do not know what kind of fans Halsey has, but they sure are a bunch of supportive people, and they wouldn’t have anyone bully Halsey. One fan tweeted “Who said that? I’ll fight,” and another fan who was also upset tweeted “We all know how hard you’ve worked for this. Ignore them and enjoy that FLAWLESS set of curls,”.
Halsey got over the drama almost immediately, and she moved on to other essential businesses. The singer might be cooking up something sweet for her fans, and she’s teasing about it already. “I’m usually really good at keeping things a secret like songs and albums and videos and collabs,” she declared on Sunday the 12th of August. On the same thread, she tweeted “But sometimes I just get reaaaaaaally juiced about something, and everyday [sic] feels like I’m gonna explode with the secret.” whatever it is this hair goddess is rambling about, we intend to wait it out.
Halsey has been a natural hair advocate for some time now, and in April 2018, she shook tables on social media. Hotels that don’t provide products that are inclusive for people of colour were called out by the singer. In a tweet was has now been pulled down, the singer said: “I’ve been travelling for years now, and it’s been so frustrating that the hotel toiletry industry entirely alienates people of colour,”. That was very bold and daring of Halsey, and her message of inclusiveness was just perfect as thousands of people have had similar experiences but didn’t dare to speak up.
To buttress her point, Halsey tweeted ” I can’t use this perfumed watered down white people shampoo. Neither can 50% of your customers. Annoying.”
Guess the hotels didn’t see that one coming. Nothing beats being bold enough to stand up for yourself and others using the power of social media.
