The Infinix S2 Pro, the sequel to last year’s lifestyle smartphone from Infinix Mobility (Hot S), was released not long ago, and it was quite surprising for me to discover that the smartphone boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, considering that many of the smartphones released by rival OEMs, Innjoo and Tecno in 2017 run on the latest version of Android, Android 7.0 Nougat.
My best guess at that moment was that the company would add the S2 Pro to the list of Infinix smartphones getting Android 7.0 Nougat update between April and June this year, and that is what has just happened; the Infinix S2 Pro has received an update to Android 7.0 Nougat just a week after it was launched, even before the best Infinix smartphone till date, the Zero 4 Plus.
For those for whom having Android 7.0 Nougat on a smartphone was a dealbreaker and have refrained from purchasing the S2 Pro because it runs on Marshmallow from boot, you can now safely get a unit of the smartphone.
Infinix S2 Pro Android 7.0 Nougat update changelog
The Infinix S2 Pro Android 7.0 Nougat brings all the new features in Nougat to the smartphone, as well as some software optimisations. The full details of this aren’t available at the moment, but we’ll update this article when we get more info on that. For now, we expect that the update would carry the same changes it brought for the Infinix Note 3.

- New shortcuts and toggles for the notification bar.
- Optimised battery usage.
How to update Infinix S2 Pro to Android 7.0 Nougat
The software update for the S2 Pro is delivered over-the-air (OTA), so to download it, go to your phone Settings, click on “About” and then “Software Update”. The update package is 1.8GB in size, so you might want to connect to a Wi-Fi network, or you might as well choose to download via a mobile network if the recent hike in the price of Glo Data Plans isn’t affecting you.
When you’re done downloading the update package, make sure your phone is charged to at least 90%, click on update and then wait for it to do its thing. When the phone restarts, you have successfully updated your Infinix S2 Pro to Android 7.0 Nougat.
While many are busy lamenting and pondering on why a phone launched less than two weeks ago has received an update to the latest OS while theirs which are about one year old is still on an older OS, I’m here patiently waiting for the Android 7.0 Nougat update on my Infinix Hot S. Care to join me?
