KIA Unveils Their Redesigned Most Luxurious Sedan; the New 2019 K900
Many of us had no idea that kia produces luxury cars and at such it may come as a surprise to you that the 2019 kia K900 is a full sized and fully modernized luxury sedan. Even though the automakers have been known as a medium quality car producing company, the Kia K900 seem to be the company’s way of proving the critics wrong. With its muscular build and very comfortable cabin, the Kia K900 came to compete with the big names in the business.
The new Kia K900 offers the kind of luxury you can get from the likes of merc and bmw,but in a more subtle way. Here are the things you need to know about the new car.
Now in its second generation,the new Kia K900 has a totally different design( which had not really changed much since 2015) both in appearance and performance from its predecessor. Starting from the wide and maw up front, the K900 gently arches back toward the rear with a smooth belt-line that runs underneath the windows. A smaller stamp stretches underneath the front door handles but diminishes toward the back, leaving the rear third of the K900 fairly thick sided.
Talk about sophistication, the entirely redesigned K900 brings a new definition of premium luxury to the Kia portfolio which has not been there previously. Though it’s a bit longer and wider than the outgoing model, this K900 actually looks tighter thanks to its redesigned proportions, especially with respect to its profile. Combining an awesomely balanced design with flowing lines and geometric details, the K900 introduces a modern air of elegance to the large sedan segment. A new ‘Quadric pattern’ signature grille up front is the focal point of the new K900.
Influenced mostly by the trajectory of light, the new design of the double headlamps provides the K900 with a progressive image that establishes presence and character.
The rear end of the K900 shows off a stance decorated with eye-catching details. The duplex rear combi lights emits the design language of the headlights and the integrated exhaust housings are finished off with chrome details.
The K900 also features the normal array of driver-assist features, including a surround-view camera system that provides 360 degree view of the surrounding using 4 cameras fitted around the car, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control. Kia also offers a driver attention monitor that alerts the driver when he’s about to fall asleep behind the wheels, and Lane Follow Assist, which adds a bit more degree of automated steering to the adaptive cruise control. The new K900 also utilizes an “electro-mechanic”, rack-mounted power steering assembly which is designed to increase agility and comfort. It is equipped with standard variable ratio steering, the system gives a “slower” off-center feel, which provides a better sense of stability, especially during high speed drives.
Furthermore, when it comes to noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), the K900 is very known for being incredibly quiet but further sound absorption remained a goal for the all-new model. This goal was pursued with the use of new and enhanced insulation throughout the vehicle structure, including in the engine compartment firewall, the rear seat bridge panel, under floor cover and also vibration pad behind the headliner. An acoustic film on it’s windshield and front side glass notably quiets the cabin as does the use of resonance chambered wheels where plastic bands within the wheels reduce road noise while driving.
The interior of the new K900 provides both drivers and passengers with a peaceful retreat that is simple, modern and very comfortable. The front seats are heated and ventilated, with a 20-way power adjustment( equipped with width-adjusting pads and lumbar support with power air cells and shoulder adjustments for exacting undiluted comfort) for the driver and a 12-way power adjustment for the passenger. The rear seats are also fitted with power adjustment, as well as reclining, heating and also ventilation for the outboard seats. The new beautiful dashboard is uncluttered and ergonomic, featuring a tech saturated instrument panel and integrated air vents. The driver turns the car with a heated leather steering wheel and matching center console-mounted gear shift knob.
I know that Interior lighting isn’t something most people pay attention to in a car, but Kia went the extra mile with the K900. It brought in the Pantone Institute to design colors for the new mood-lighting system, “each with its own message and meaning which are inspired by the oceans, forests, skies, the aurora borealis, and other aspects of nature itself,” according to a company’s press. On a more practical note, lights for dashboard controls glow brighter when a user’s hand reaches for them as if fitted with heat sensors.
The new K900’s infotainment system includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen, which is shoehorned into the dashboard, but at least is fitted with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The driver also gets a separate 12.3-inch TFT digital instrument cluster display, and also a 9.7-inch head-up display . The 900-watt, 17-speaker Harman Kardon/Lexicon audio system fitted on the new K900 is the most powerful ever offered in a Kia.
Although the K900 prides itself as not being overly luxurious, the one thumbs up to the haute lifestyle is an analog clock specially designed and co-branded by Maurice Lacroix4 , a symbol of globally renowned sophistication and the pursuit of perfection in automobile craftsmanship. This eye-catching timepiece is set in the center of the dashboard and tangibly elevates the prestige level of the cabin.
Engine and Transmission
The new K900 will be available with two V6 engine choices and a V8, but the K900 that will be sold in the U.S. will only get the 3.3-liter bi-turbo V6,matched with an eight speed automatic transmission that produces 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque.
