Google released the final build of the latest version of its Android operating system, Android 8.0 Oreo about a week ago (on August 22), and since then smartphone users have been expecting their OEMs to promise an update to the new Android OS for their smartphones, and OEMs have been launching new smartphones with promises of an update to Oreo. Sony has just shared a list of its smartphones in the Sony Xperia line that will receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update.
The list was shared at the ongoing IFA event in Berlin after Sony launched three new smartphones, the Sony Xperia XZ1, XZ1 compact and XA1 Plus at the event. Two of the new smartphones in the new Sony Xperia XZ1 series run on Android 8.0 Oreo, and many more Xperia smartphones are now in line to get the new Android OS at a later date.

Here is the official list of Xperia smartphones that will receive the update to Android Oreo, released by Sony at the IFA event in Berlin:
- Xperia X
- Xperia X Performance
- Xperia XZ
- Xperia X Compact
- Xperia XZ Premium
- Xperia XZs
- Xperia XA1
- Xperia XA1 Ultra
- Xperia Touch
- Xperia XA1 Plus
We don’t know yet when the update will start rolling in for these devices, but we expect that it will be before the end of this year. Also, this is not a final list as the company said that it’s working to bring the update to as many of its smartphones as possible, meaning that more phones might be added to the list in the future.
Android 8.0 Oreo is a big upgrade to Nougat, bringing new features and improvements to existing features like Autofill APIs, PiP (Picture-in-Picture display), Adaptive icons, Java 8 Language APIs, runtime optimisations, support for better and advanced Bluetooth audio codecs like LDAC codec, and more.
