‘Me’ Time on a Dime

Finding time to pamper yourself can be a difficult task to achieve when you’re a parent. It seems every waking hour is devoted to the care of your little one, outside work, chores and other activities, making R&R; something that you don’t see often enough.

Yet, taking time for yourself is one of the most important things that you can do for yourself as a parent. Taking this break from the norm can refresh and invigorate you from the inside out, and help you get more done day by day.

If you don’t have the time (or money) for a luxury spa day or a mini-vacation, don’t worry. There are numerous ways to pamper yourself right from the comfort of your own home!

Take a look at a few ways you can relax and unwind and reinvigorate your senses at home, and be sure that you take that much needed time for yourself.

Turn your Bathroom into a Spa. Your bathroom can easily transform into a relaxing spa. Run a warm bath, adding a bit of bubble bath and scented oil.

Dim the lights, and allow the sounds of soft music to fill the air. Light a few scented candles if you’d like. Lavender is a preferred scent, and it has a calming effect on the body.

Grab a book or magazine, and enjoy the water for as long as you’d like. Once you’re out of the bath, soften the skin with a bit of scented lotion and put on something soft and comfortable. Turn off the phone while all of this is going on, and make sure that this is a time just for you.

Head Outside. There are many outdoor activities that you can enjoy that will also relax you. Whether that is lying in a hammock taking in a bit of sun or planting a colorful flower garden, being outside can help you clear your mind, boost your energy and help you feel better. Fresh air is good for us all, and such activities make being outside even more fun.

Enjoy a Treat. Put your hair in a bun, throw on an old T-shirt and pair of sweat pants and head to the kitchen to make yourself an indulgent treat.

Whatever your heart has been craving (or whatever sounds good at the time.) A delicious banana split. A tantalizing slice of chocolate cake. Homemade strawberry pie.

The choice is yours to make. Studies prove that sweets like chocolate work on the serotonin in the brain, sending mounds of sensation our way. Enjoy!
