Earlier in October, the Finnish smartphone giant HMD global had announced that four of Nokia smartphones would be getting a stable Android 9 Pie update by the end of November this year. The Nokia device which was lined up for the Android Pie update includes the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco.
However, the Nokia 7 already has received the Android 9 Pie, and these smartphones are yet to receive the Android 9 Pie update. And if all of the smartphones mentioned above receive the Android Pie update, then the overall number of Nokia smartphones running on Android 9 Pie will be 5.
However, there is no specific timeline mentioned as to when the Android 9 Pie update will come to the above mentioned Nokia devices apart from the part that the update will be rolled out in November. Though, the company has confirmed to that other of its smartphones will receive the Android 9 update. Nokia has assured that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 will soon receive the official Android Pie update. Although the update might be rolled out to these selected smartphones once the previously announced lined up devices have received their update.
It is usual for Google to first release any of their OS updates to the chipset vendor before making it available to the handset maker; therefore the devices that have been lined up previously will be receiving the update first. This is one of the primary reasons why the finish company releases the Android Pie update in a phased out manner rather than just releasing it at once for all its devices. So if by chance you own any of the earlier mentioned handsets then you are on your way to receiving the Android 9 Pie update for your device.
Also, recall that the Nokia 3 launched last year. The smartphone comes with a budget price tag, and like the other Nokia smartphones, it runs on stock Android UI (Android One). This means the smartphone comes first in line to receive the Pie updates and security patches. The Nokia 3 comes with a 5-inch IPS LCD Display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Powered with a quad-core MediaTek 6737 CPU paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The internal memory can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
