Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus: Specs, Release date and Pricing
It’s that time of the year when you see series of rumors, renders and leaks everywhere on the internet concerning the next Samsung’s Smartphone in the Galaxy S line of phones.
If I am correct, this period marks the time where leaks about the phone are everywhere, the era of rumors and renders are long gone. So many of these leaks won’t turn out to be correct while just a few will always out true when Samsung finally reveals the real form and specs of the Smartphone.
In this post I want to show you everything I know you want to know about the new Samsung’s flagship phone, the samsung Galaxy S9/S9+.
After the release of Galaxy S8/8+, I think it took only a week or more before the melody of galaxy S9/S9 Plus sneaked into the tongues of avid Smartphone freaks and ever since then, they’ve been singing to the melody non-stop.
There will be a 5.8inch display for the S9 and 6.2 inch display for S9 plus with QHD+ super AMOLED curved display (570ppi/529ppi) respectively.
The two variants will feature the latest android version which is the Oreo 8.0
Galaxy S9 will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 for the US and Chinese versions while the smartphone in UK will exist with Samsung’s own Exynos 9810
RAM and Storage
The RAM capacity on the S9 will be 4GB and also there will be a variant with a 6GB of RAM while the S9+ will exist only on the 6GB RAM variant.
The RAM will be paired with a standard storage of 128GB, although other variants featuring 64GB and 256GB will still be available in case you need an increased memory and you don’t mind about the increased price.
This time, Samsung will be sticking to the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner they introduced with the S8/S8+ (no more finger print sensors on the home button).
Camerawise, the S9/S9+ will both feature a 12MP dual pixel camera with OIS (f/1.5,f/2.4)/vertical dual rear-facing camera, while a powerful 8MP selfie-worthy camera lens will take up the front camera space.
Other miscellaneous features includes;
- Bixby AI assistant with dedicated buttons will be available (Samsung will not let Google assistant take all the glory here).
- USB-C and 3.5mm headphone jack will be in place. Samsung is still not falling for Apple’s killing of the headphone jack.
- Wireless charging support
- IP68 water and dust resistance
- Built in FM radio and finally
- Updated DeX docking station.
Samsung would have released these phones earlier during consumer electronics show in las vegas (CES), but due to some well deserved decision which they later realized was a very good one to make, they opted out from debuting the smartphone at the show. Now they are gearing up for a characteristic launch which will take place during Galaxy Unpacked event in Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) which will take place 25th Febuary through.
According to Evleaks, pre-orders for the smartphone will start immediately after the announcement on the 1st of March and two weeks after that, shipping commences on 16th march.
Although the real price will be revealed on its release date, but meanwhile, it’s speculated that the price will be between $800-$939 in the US, approximately $180 difference in price when compared to S8.
