When God created the world and everything in it, he acknowledged his work and saw it good to create a man in his own image and likeness. When he looked at him, he saw he was lonely and decided to create a woman from his rib. The woman was to be his helper and they were given the responsibility of procreating and filling the earth. Therefore, God gave human beings sexual hormones and urges which means that he approves human beings to enjoy sexual pleasures. However, there is a specific way you should enjoy sex, failure to which you indulge yourself in sexual immoralities which can have severe consequences, both physically and spiritually.
Well, people enjoy sexual pleasures in various ways, but the only one approved by God is between a married man and his wife. The two should only engage in sex in their marriage institution and there should not be a third party involved. If you are married, you can enjoy sexual pleasures from your wife (female) or husband (Man) as many times as you want. But if you are not married, here are the sexual pleasures you should avoid in 2019.
- Premarital sex
Also known as fornication, premarital sex is simply sex between unmarried man and woman. Years ago, young men and women led a righteous life free from sexual pleasures and preserved their virginity until marriage. Today, the devil has confused our young generations who are thinking that sex before marriage is normal, obvious and a good thing and that they can’t control their sexual urges.
Well, the truth is that you can control your sexual desires and maintain your purity till marriage. If you remember the story of Jesus’ parents Mary and Joseph, they were both virgins and preserved their purity until they get into matrimonial home. Regardless of their age, I believe they had healthy sexual urges but did not desire to indulge in fornication. You too can avoid premarital sex and lead a positive and happy life, and God will be there to give your strength. Many young men and women ask, how can I stay away from fornication? Well, all you need is to pray for strength from God, avoid bad company and places that can put you at risk of desiring to have premarital sex.
As always, the case, choices have consequences and the few minutes you engage in premarital sex can have painful repercussions, either immediate or in the future. For instance, premarital sex may lead to unwanted pregnancy and eventually school dropout and this might destroy a young girl’s bright future. Also, fornication can lead to sexually transmitted diseases which can even lead to death in extreme cases. Every person you have sex with has his or her strange spirit and therefore, fornication puts you at risk of demonic possession. With these and other repercussions, it’s evident that because God has good plans for you, he wants you to stay away from fornication for your own good.
- Extramarital sex
Also known as adultery, ‘extra’-marital sex is simply having sex with someone else other than your wife or husband. In the world we are living today, the devil is not sleeping peacefully without convincing married men and women that they cannot stick with one sex partner forever. The devil is very smart and shows people that they cannot ‘eat the same food’ every day all their lives and that ‘there is no harm in trying a different kind of food’. The devil is a liar and just like the way it’s possible to spice the same food every day and have a different taste, so is marriage; add spice to your sex life and enjoy sex differently from the same partner.
Don’t be fooled because sex from another person doesn’t make it better, in fact, the same pleasure you get from your spouse is the same you get from that ‘extra’ person. Stick to your marriage and God will reward you. When you engage in premarital sex, you destroy yourself (Proverbs 6:32), you betray the trust your spouse has for you, you increase chances of demonic attacks, and destroy your marriage that God wants to last forever.
Masturbation entails playing with your sexual organs to get the sexual pleasures. Whether you are married or not, masturbation is serious sexual immorality you should never indulge in. First things first, God is holy and when you masturbate, you keep yourself away from Him. Again, you can injure your sexual organs when masturbating so what’s the need of doing something that will have a detrimental effect on your body? Besides making a person feel empty and dirty, masturbation reduces your self-esteem, attracts demons and makes it hard for you to maintain a healthier relationship with your spouse. If you want to lead a healthy happy life as God would want, avoid masturbation. If you feel the urge to masturbate, keep your mind busy with something constructive.
Pornography entails deriving sexual pleasures from nude pictures or other people having sex. Pornography can be addictive and if you watch or read pornographic content, you’re in a pornographic business either acting or selling, 2019 is the best time for you to stop. Our God is merciful and forgiving and when you stop and repent, He will forgive you. God designed sex to be an honorable act and because we are different from animals, we shouldn’t do what wild animals do. If you’re addicted to porn and you’d like to stop, just know that everything is possible with God; just pray and He will walk with your through this journey.
Homosexuality is simply having sexual intercourse with a person of the same gender as you. As stated earlier, God created man in his own image and likeness, and when he realized he was lonely, he created a woman from his ribs. If it was the will of God to approve homosexuality, he would have created two men and two women but given that he created one man and a woman, that’s how it’s supposed to be.
When God created human beings, he allowed them to dominate the world. His desire was that they would live righteously and stay away from all forms of sins. However, the devil wants people to deviate from God’s will and that’s why there are different forms of sins especially sex-related. In 2019, remember that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and when you commit sexual immorality, you sin against your body (I Cor 6:18-19) and therefore, the best thing is to break free from sexual immoralities.
