Simple Penis Joke Helps Openly Lesbian Lawyer Dana Nessel Become First Gay Michigan Attorney General

History is gradually being made by hard working members of the LGBT community. Dana Nessel, a Jewish lesbian lawyer has set the pace for other gay people as she emerges the first openly gay individual to win the statewide office in Michigan.

However, the underdog campaign of this lesbian lawyer was given its very first boost by a simple penis joke she made.

Dana who is known for her contribution to overturn the Michigan same sex marriage ban back in 2012, easily won a five way race to emerge the state’s attorney during the just concluded US midterm elections.

Dana had a total of 48.5 percent from the entire 96 percent of the votes counted on Tuesday, narrowly defeating the Republican contestant Tom Leanoard who got a total of 46.8 percent of the total counted votes during the election per reports released by the Michigan news website Mlive.com

Republican candidate Tom Leanoard admitted defeat on Tuesday when he said: : “Dana Nessel ran a smart campaign and earned the voters’ trust,” per reports by the state news.

Dana Nessel received massive attention after making headlines with her bold campaign video released back in November 2017 in the midst of the #MeToo movement and the Harvey Winston scandal for the state wide position went viral.

The words used by Dana in the viral video seems to have been the smartest political move to make at the time especially because of the sexual adult issues that filled the atmosphere.

Dana’s words in the advert were:  “If the last few weeks have taught us anything, it’s that we need more women in positions of power, not less. So, when you’re choosing Michigan’s next attorney general. Ask yourself this: Who can you trust most not to show you their penis in a professional setting? Is it the candidate who doesn’t have a penis? I’d say so.”

The video was reported to have attracted more than 24,000 views on YouTube. Dana Nessel who is married and a proud mother of two proceeded to make sure her campaign was endorsed by the former vice president of the United States of America, Joe Bidden.

During an address to her supporters on Tuesday, Dana thanked her wife Alanna Maguire and her entire family for their support. She went further to add “And for all of you out there that can’t handle the fact that I’m about to become the first openly gay person to hold statewide office [in Michigan] before kissing her wife passionately to a loud applause.

Dana who studied law in the university of Michigan and also attended the Wayne state university law school, told the cheering crowd that “Everyone in this state [who] has felt like they weren’t included and their government did not care about them—I don’t care what your race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity [is]. You belong here. You are a Michigander. As of now, you have a government that cares about you.”

Nessel is not the only openly gay or LGBT person who got elected to office in the United States of America this week. JD Ford is an openly gay candidate who won the election for Indiana’s senate district 29, replacing Mike Delph, the long time Republican senator.

Mr Ford is also the first openly gay person to become legislator in Indiana which is the home state of Vice president Mike Pence.

In Kansas the first openly lesbian native American female in the person of Sharice Davids was elected to the United States house of assembly as she wins a congressional seat.

And finally, the former Colorado congressman Mr Jared polis has become the first openly gay man to be governor. Making Jared polis, his same sex partner, and their two kids the first same gender family to reside in the governor’s mansion in the United States of America.
