Tecno Boom J8 Unveiled, Features New Custom HiOS


Tecno Mobile set out to do what they do best on March 31st 2016 – launch a new device. The new device from the king of Nigeria/Africa’s mobile space is called The Tecno Boom J8, and the successor to renowned music line-up devices (J-series) Boom J7 and Boom J5.

This new music phone J8 would see a new rise in Tecno phones running the Chinese company’s custom made operating system dubbed HiOS. The new OS is claimed to offer a unique user interface, alongside improved app management options. The Tecno Boom J8 like all other Boom series devices is a typically built music phone, and according to Tecno’s PR head, Attai Oguche, Boom J8 presents highly optimized audio features to place it at the core of mobile customers’ demands.

“The HiOS operating system which gives the Boom J8 more room for intuitive functions and the phone’s highly optimized software features has earned it impressive ratings from mobile tech analysts who partnered Tecno in reviewing the smartphone before its launch. Tecno’s Boom J8 might well be the best music-centric smartphone of its price range in the market,”

Attai says.

Jesse Oguntimehin, Tecno digital marketing head taking the stage later on talked about the devices’ music prowess, stating that;

“Tecno Boom J8 rewards music lovers with custom Boom headphones; each box of the smart phone comes with a free headphone but it is the Boom Max app, a pre-installed custom music equalization feature that will totally hook mobile users who listen to music in detail.”

For his part, Tecno Nigeria MD, Mr Chidi Okonkwo talked about the device’s look and feel and added a few quick thoughts. According to Mr Chidi Okonkwo;

“Boom J8 matches the hype with premium specifications and material design. This music phone is elegant in every way, it is a sheer product of hard work and outlandish thinking.”

The new Tecno Boom J8 features some pleasing specs on-board aside the next-gen HiOS Tecno Mobile is bringing on board. The device which is rounded up to an impressive 5.5” IPS HD touch screen comes powered by a MediaTek quad-core CPU, boasts 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of ROM. Dual cameras; a 13MP AF snapper as its main shooter at the back, and a 5MP Front geo-tagging cameras with optical image stabilization (OIS) and dual LED flash. The device should run Android 5.1 Lollipop straight out of the box.

Pricing of the new Tecno Boom J8 is pecked at 41,000 Naira, and is expected to become available in most offline and online ecommerce stores before month end.
