When it comes to class and allure, nothing speaks louder than seating in a Mercedes. Now imagine when Mercedes partners with Maybach to make a car. It will be like coitus between two giants, y’all know the result of that mating process. The 2017 Mercedes Benz Maybach S600 is a sedan like no other. The kind of luxury it offers is the kind you can only get from a few other vehicles.

The Maybach S600 is a car of choice to most of the elite people in the society. If you see anyone being driven in it, then probably the person is a highly connected politician or a businessman with immeasurable taste for the good things in life. also it is not just a car for the driver as this car is basically made for those who like to be driven around in absolute comfort.

This car is so unique that a German billionaire once said and I quote “l have been driven in many cars before, but nothing compares to the comfort I get when I sit in the backseat of my S600”. That’s to show you what you get when you buy this awesome machine, if you can afford it that is, because it doesn’t come cheap. What makes the S600 so expensive? you may ask… Lets now get down to the specs that made this beast what it is.

Design

The latest Mercedes Maybach s600 has been designed in such a way that it has been made substantially longer, taller and more spacious than even the long wheelbase S-Class, gaining 207 mm in length and 2 mm in height. Despite that modest latter figure, headroom increases by 12 mm thanks to the way the new layout was done. There’s a chrome twin exhaust system, LED headlights, key-less entry run-flat tyres, tinted rear windows and a 360-degree camera system on the outside of the car. The new triple-band LED Daytime Running Lamps attract other drivers’ attention and everyone’s admiration when put on. New Ultra Wide Beam active LED headlamps illuminate the roadsides better. Also LED tail lamps are fitted and sparkle with a new “Stardust” effect.

The S 600’s self-leveling Airmatic suspension adapts at each wheel to take corners and bumps in stride. The Magic Body Control camera on the S600 scans the road ahead, to proactively counteract bumps and dips as you reach them. It can even lean into curves on the road like a slaloming skier.

Only a handful of vehicles on Earth can rival the Maybach’s standard safety feature set. Besides the normal airbags and traction aids, it comes with a driver knee airbag, rear cushion airbags that prevent dipping under your seat belt, front side pelvic airbags, rear side airbags, rear-seat belt airbags, a forward collision warning and automatic braking system (can detects cars and pedestrians), a rear collision detection and mitigation system (which uses the rear mounted cameras to detect approaching vehicles and tries to compensate by either warning the driver or increasing speed automatically in order to avoid rear collision), active lane-keeping and blind-spot assistance (provides visual help to the driver by providing video feed of the hidden surroundings beyond the driver’s sight), a drowsy driver warning system, front and rear cross-traffic alert, and a night-vision display.

There are several wheels option for the S600, from the 19 inches multi spoke wheels, to the 20 inches exclusive Maybach wheels and the sporty 20 inches five spoke wheels. There’s also heated side mirrors which come as standard feature. The keyless entry and ignition option also come as standard.

The front grille on the latest S600 has been made longer and better.At the back, there’s the signature maybach logo with the S600 badge placed at either sides of the trunk lid.

Interior

Inside there is floor mats with maybach logo crested on them, same as on the seats. Also Mercedes Benz Air Balance fragance system come standard on the S600. The front and rear seats are electrically adjustable ventilated seats with massage function. Panoramic sunroof, a glass cabinet, four-zone climate control, reclining rear seats, and heated armrests and steering wheel.

There is also the “First Class Cabin” option. Other than more exotic paint colours, this is the only other cost option available (at almost $10,000) which swaps the three seat rear bench for two individual seats, which can recline to 44 degrees. Alongside these seats is a central armrest with inset tables, silver-plated champagne flutes, temperature-controlled cupholders, and a refrigerated compartment.

When it comes to infotainment there is Mercedes-Benz 12.3 inches Comand infotainment system complete with satellite navigation, Bluetooth, DAB radio, USB connectivity, Wi-fi hotspot and a TV tuner, alongside a rear entertainment package which includes two 10 inches screens, a DVD player and wireless headphones. There’s also another 12.3 inches widescreen beside the infotainment screen used as a reconfigurable instrument panel. Also fitted in the new S600 are new 64-color ambient lighting also lets you control zones and select themes that gives off different light tones according to the theme selection of the occupants.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard and expand your choices in entertainment and navigation. Their unique interfaces work like your phone because they integrate with it easily, even its voice controls. Wireless charging is now standard, in both front and rear.

The trunk differs based on whether you stick with the standard 24-speaker Burmester sound system (12.3 cubic feet) or choose to save some cash and cargo volume by going with the lesser 13-speaker system (16 cubic feet). That’s a significant difference if you are a regular shopper.

Almost every function in the S600 is fully automatic with minimum number of analogue dials used. Most functions are either controlled using the mounted steering wheel buttons or the mouse-like controller on the center console.

Engine and Transmission

Under the hood of the Mercedes Maybach S600 has a turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 that produces 523 hp and 612 lb-ft of torque. It has a seven-speed automatic and an all-wheel drive configuration which provides jet-like thrust, though in near silence, as the Mercedes Maybach S600 was designed to offer one of the world’s quietest car cabin. The transmission, Airmatic suspension and the magic body control functions combine effortlessly to provide the most comfortable ride you can get in any sedan.
