5 Types of Dangerous Diets

Dangerous Diet

While it is crucial to maintain a healthy diet and there are several types of diets to pick from, it is also essential to know that some diets don’t go well with our body system and are very dangerous.

This list features 5 dangerous diets you shouldn’t ever try adopting. You shouldn’t put your health at risk just because you want to try a new diet.

Read on to find out more.

1. The Prolinn Diet

You might be wondering what the Prolinn diet is, that’s if you don’t already know about how gross it is. The Prolinn diet presented in 1976 by an Author, Roger Linn, in his book “The Last Chance Diet.”

Roger suggested what was supposedly a starvation diet, where a low-calorie liquid drink is the only thing you feed on. This is a liquid drink gotten from hides and hooves from slaughterhouses.

Why is it a Dangerous Diet?

The Prolinn diet has a bad record for the most heart attack sufferers after following the diet. The very low-quality protein shake may not have directly caused the heart attacks, but many people experienced abnormal rhythms of the heart or even worse when they effectively starve themselves.

Prolinn, which is low in minerals, vitamins, and electrolytes, provides very little to sustain the body and shouldn’t be recommended as a reasonable diet option.

2. Tapeworm Diet

This involves the creepy practice of placing tapeworms in your body so that the worms with feed off what you’ve eaten. This is done, so you don’t put on too much weight. The tapeworm would commonly be ingested in the form of a pill, and then the parasite would grow inside the stomach.

The Tapeworm Diet isn’t legal, although Tapeworm Diet pills can be purchased from dubious means.

Why is it a Dangerous Diet?

I don’t think it takes much thinking to know that swallowing Tapeworms so they could use you as a host is dangerously unhealthy.

The tapeworms would consume many nutrients that the body needs to function efficiently. But that’s not all, the tapeworms are at liberty to tour around the body, and can get to extremely delicate places like the brain and heart. Trying the Tapeworm Diet can have potentially deadly repercussions.

People suffering from Tapeworm infestation could experience headaches and intestinal discomfort. I’d cringe to imagine having tapeworms as long as 20 to 30 feet crawling in my body!

3. The Fruitarian Diet

Fruitarian Diet

Your guess is as good as mine; it definitely involves eating fruits. Sometimes, nuts and seeds can be introduced into this diet, while avoiding other foods, especially meat and fish.

Why is it a Dangerous Diet?

The body requires a balanced diet, and eating fruits alone doesn’t guarantee that, mainly because your body wouldn’t get the fatty acids and nutrients that it needs.

A lack of vitamin B12 could cause complications like anemia.

Researchers at Colombia University also noticed a lack of iron, protein, zinc, calcium, and vitamin D by monitoring the fruitarian diet, which could cause symptoms, including osteoporosis, tiredness, and reduced immunity.

Also, the acid present in fruits affects the health of your teeth.

4. The Cigarette Diet

Aren’t you eager to know what the Cigarette Diet involves? It’s merely suppressing the urge to eat with a stick of cigarette.

It is subtly called the “Model’s Diet,” which includes the smoking of cigarettes and drinking water. Tobacco companies in the past tried marketing their product as being able to help with weight loss, and boy was they successful!

Why is it a Dangerous Diet?

Unless you are new on planet earth, then you should know smoking is bad. Cigarette packs have a warning that says, “smokers are liable to die young.” If this isn’t obvious enough, then I don’t know what would make you understand just how dangerous smoking is.

Cigarette contains tons of harmless substances, including nicotine, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen cyanide. Are you sure this is the thing you want traveling through your lungs?

The health risk involved includes cancer, stroke, osteoporosis, heart disease, and impotence. This is just a few on the list, meaning the Cigarette Diet shouldn’t even cross your mind.

5. hCG Diet

The hCG Diet involves injecting or ingesting the hCG hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin) – produced during pregnancy to help with baby growth – and dieters then go on a calorie-restricted meal plan of no more than 750-800 calories.

The hormone can be found in pregnant women’s urine, and the human placenta can be ingested, injected into the bloodstream, or gently rubbed into the skin.

Why is it a Dangerous Diet?

There’s yet to be any study or clinical trials that can be used to back up any possible claim of success from the diet. It was suggested that the weight loss that dieters experience is due to the restrictions of calories.

Eating very little food isn’t recommended as it may cause the body to lack essential vitamins and minerals it requires. The hormone has also been associated with potentially dangerous health complications known as ovarian hyperstimulation.
