Kevin Hart was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on the 6th of July 1979. He was raised singlehandedly by his mother, Nancy Hart.

His father, Henry Witherspoon, was a drug addict, and as a result, he spent most of his time in jail than out of jail throughout most of Kevin’s childhood.

Kevin had an elder brother named Robert, and his mother worked at the University of Pennsylvania as a systems analyst for the Office of Student Registration and Financial Services.

Kevin graduated from George Washington High School, after which he attended the Community College of Philadelphia briefly before moving to New York City.

After staying a while at New York City, Kevin moved to Brockton, Massachusetts, where he started working as a shoe salesman, even as he also began to pursue a career in standup comedy.

Hart started out taking on amateur comedy competitions at clubs and lounges throughout New England, some of which he won, before going on to pursuing a career in standup comedy shortly after he graduated from high school, getting shots at the big clubs in New York and Los Angeles.

He got his first real break and came into prominence in 2001 when he appeared in the TV series Undeclared.

After this, he got other film roles, with his first shot coming in 2002  as Kelvin Hart appeared in “Paper Soldiers,” before going on to take a role in the 2003 movie “Scary Movie 3”. He also starred in “Soul Plane” in 2004, and “In the Mix” in 2005.
