Every new release of the macOS breaks some apps which are not yet updated to work with the latest version of OS.

The same has occurred after the release of macOS Mojave, and while there’re lots of apps whose latest update broke, the one that seems to affect a large number of users is BlueStacks.

A lot of people have been making complaints online about the fact that the BlueStacks Android emulator doesn’t work on their macOS Mojave systems.

However, if you are among the few who have been using BlueStacks on your Mac until macOS Mojave came along, i will tell you what to do but before then, here is why BlueStacks is no longer working on macOS Mojave:

Why is BlueStacks not working on macOS Mojave?

The reason behind BlueStacks not working on macOS is straightforward. Every new update on macOS comes with a lot of underlying, and the app developers need to update their apps so that it can work with the new operating system.

Whenever you carry out an update on your Mac to a newer version, all the incompatible software is placed in an ‘Incompatible Software’ folder which is then retrieved later whenever the app is updated to support the new version of the OS.

Since BlueStacks has not been updated yet to support the macOS Mojave, it will not work on it even if you reinstall it a thousand times.

BlueStacks no longer working on macOS Mojave: What can you do?

I have been trying to get BlueStacks to work on my macOS Mojave for the past couple of days. However, all my attempts were destroyed by the new operating system.

That is why i can say with certainty that unless BlueStacks us updated to support the macOS Mojave, it will never work on it.

The only option left on the plate is to try BlueStacks alternatives and use it until the former gets its update. So, i tried various BlueStacks alternatives, and the one that i recommend is called Genymotion.

Though this is a paid product for developers, it is also free for personal use, so you will not have to pay anything to use this app:

Using Genymotion on macOS Mojave

To use Genymotion on macOS Mojave, you’ll need to install two different types of software. The process is a bit long; though, the app works flawlessly after being installed correctly. So, whenever you are ready to follow the steps to get it working on your Mac:

Getting Genymotion working on your Mac, first, you have to download and install VirtualBox (version 5.2.18).

Then, click here to download the personal version of Genymotion. you will be required to create an account and use it later during the installation, so, use an active email ID.

After downloading the DMG file, double-click on the file to instal it on your Mac. Grant any permission as requested by the app during the installation process.

After installation, launch the app and sign in with your Genymotion account to get access to a virtual Andriod device. You can also choose any device that you want from the list. I picked the Google Pixel 2 XL for this tutorial.

After creating your virtual device, click on the “Start” button to launch the Android Emulator.

Once the emulator is launched, you’ll see that all the Google apps including the Google Play Store are missing. To install Google apps, click on the ‘Open GAPPS’ button on the top right corner.

This step action will download and install the Play Store. But note that the download may crash in the middle. Though it takes a few times before it is successfully installed so be calm.

Now you have your Google Play Store, all you have to do is to launch it and log in with a working Google account to download your favourite games.

Well, if you are doubting whether to use Genymotion, there are a lot of other options (BlueStacks alternatives) you can check out. However, if you’re a hardcore BlueStacks user and do not want to seek any other choice, you will have to wait till its compatible with the macOS Mojave.
