How to Hide Finder Preview Pane in macOS Mojave?

Apple’s latest iteration of macOS, the macOS Mojave comes with a lot of improvements and new macOS features including my personal favourites which is the macOS Dark Mode, and the macOS dynamic wallpaper. Although, while most of the changes are pretty high, there’s one little change that has been bugging users. The ListView I Finder now shows a Preview Pane for absolutely no reason at all, it just shows it, and it can be very annoying. So, if you are interested in hiding the preview pane in macOS Mojave, here is what you need to do.

Hide Finder Preview Pane in macOS Mojave

The most obvious that that comes to mind when hiding the preview pane in the macOS Mojave Finder is to drag it to the right edge of the window, and while that fix is temporary, the pane always reappears whenever the Finder is re-launched, and even on opening a new Finder window. However, fixing this is pretty easy. i would have loved to call it a macOS Mojave trick, but it is not it because it is too easy to be named one. Anyways, let’s get it started already.

With the Finder now open in the List view, click on ‘View’ in the menu bar. Then click on ‘Hide Preview Pane.’ You can also use the keyboard shortcut ‘command + shift + P’ to do the same thing.

The Preview Pane will become hidden, and it will remain hidden on re-launching the Finder, or even when the computer is restarted.

So, now that you know how to permanently hide the Preview Pane in the Finder in macOS Mojave, you can also choose whether you want the preview pane to be visible or not. Also, if you decide to change your mind about getting the preview pane back, you enable it from the ‘View’ menu. Or press the shortcut keys ‘command + shift + P’ to get it back.
