The UMiDigi S5 Pro was released only recently by the Chinese smartphone makers UMiDigi as the first device in their 2020 smartphone lineup.
The S5 Pro tends to be an all-rounder as it tries to match performance with power and camera features. The S5 Pro is the successor of last year’s S3 Pro and even from the design, one can see the clear evidence of upgrade.

Design
The Umidigi S5 Pro from its design already looks like a worthy rival for the Infinix S5 Pro. The device offers an ultra full view display design with the front selfie camera having nothing to with the display panel.
Over to the back is the quad-camera setup with the camera sensors, LED Flash, and Noise-canceling mic (quite a strange place to place a mic) arranged in a dual vertical format. The rear MIC must have been placed there to capture clearer audio during video recording.
The rear fingerprint sensor is noticeably missing and it isn’t located at the sides, UMiDigi has moved it under the display.
The rear side of the phone is protected by glass finishing, something UMiDigi refers to as 4-Sided 3D Curved Glass Back.
At the top of the smartphone is the pop up camera. The S5 Pro is UMiDigi’s first attempt at releasing a pop-up camera device.
The volume controllers and the power button is located on the right-hand side. The SIM tray is located on the left-hand side.
Over too the base is the external speaker, MIC, and USB type C port. The frame has glass protection also.
Display
The UMiDigi S5 Pro has a 6.3-inch Full High Definition Plus (FHD+) AMOLED Ultra FullView Screen display panel. The presence of the AMOLED confirms the presence of the under-display front-facing fingerprint sensor.- Advertisement –
UMiDigi says the smartphone has up to 93% screen to body ratio but other measuring parameters may bring a lesser figure.
The smartphone’s resolution stands at 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The refresh rate is not mentioned so it may be 60Hz.
Camera
UMiDigi tried to add some nice camera sensors to the module setup. The selfie camera features a 16 MP 5 element lens pop up a module. It is capable of capturing 1080 p videos at 30 frames per second.
Over to the rear camera modules, we have a combination of 48MP 6 element lens primary camera. It is assisted by a 16MP ultrawide lens with up to 120 degrees field of view, 5MP depth sensor, and 5MP Macro camera capturing images up t 2CM distance.
The rear camera module is capable of recording 4K resolution videos at 30 fps. Some of the features added the camera includes: Ultra wide-angle mode, Steady handheld night photography, 4K recording, Slow motion video, AI scenes detection, Macro mode, Portrait mode, Panorama mode, HDR, AI Beautify, Ultra wide-angle edge distortion correction, Dual LED flash, Face recognition, Real-time filters.

The UMiDigi is somehow made with gaming in mind. With the popularity of Camm of Duty, Fortnite, PUBG, and host of other popular games, it would be bad to get a smartphone that can play games without many glitches.
The S5 Pro is beefed up with the MediaTek Helio G90T gaming processor that has 2 Large Core Cortex A76 with a maximum clock speed of 2.05GHz, and 6 Cortex A55 with a maximum speed of 2.0GHz. The processor has shown promise especially after being used in the redMi Note 8 Pro.
To curb over heating, there is a cooling system installed. UMiDigi S5 Pro’s customized liquid cooling system is designed to sustain peak performance by efficiently dissipating heat throughout the phone. Keep a high and stable frame rate throughout every demanding game.
The processor is assisted by the ARM Mali G76 MC4 and has been shown to handle demanding games quite well
Unto the memory segment, we have 6GB of RAM space for handling multi-tasks and 256GB of onboard storage. It can accept an additional 256GB storage via an SD card.
Software and Battery
The UMiDigi S5 Pro is shipped with stock Android 10 and no additional bloatware. The smartphone has a 4680mAh battery to provide power and an 18W fast charge.
